Terms of Service
In force as of 22 June 2026.
This English version is provided for your convenience. Our service is operated from France and governed by French law: in case of any discrepancy, the French version is the only legally binding text.
1. Purpose
These terms govern access to and use of Make Your Novel (the “Service”), an online service published by Syntalink that provides AI-assisted generation of literary text. Using the Service implies full acceptance of these terms.
2. The Service
The Service supports the creation of a novel through successive stages (premise, bible, structure, outline, chapters, export). Generation relies on artificial intelligence models. The Service is provided as a writing aid: the content produced may contain inaccuracies, inconsistencies or coincidental resemblances, and requires the user to read it over.
3. Account
Using the Service requires creating an account with a valid email address and is reserved for people who are of age or otherwise have the legal capacity to enter into a contract. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out from your account. You undertake to provide accurate information and not to impersonate anyone else.
Each user may hold only one account, unless otherwise authorised. Creating several accounts in order to obtain offers you are not entitled to (free trial, referrals) is prohibited. Turning on “adult” or “explicit” content mode is reserved for users of age, is available only on paid plans, and is entirely their own responsibility.
4. Subscriptions & credits
The Service works on a subscription basis, monthly or yearly, giving an allowance of credits that are consumed on each generation according to a price list shown before every action.
Subscription credits form a monthly allowance: they are granted at the start of each month and, as a rule, reset at the end of it (they do not roll over). By way of exception, the top tier (Studio) benefits from unused credits rolling over for up to twelve months. A yearly subscription is billed once for twelve months, but the credits are granted month by month (not in full on signing up), under the same rules.
Credits obtained through a one-off top-up, through the purchase of a single pack (a one-off payment, with no commitment, giving the right to generate one novel of a given size), and credits obtained through referrals, are not subject to that monthly reset and are kept with no time limit for as long as the account remains active. Subscriptions renew automatically at term unless the user cancels.
You may change plan at any time from your account. An upgrade takes effect immediately, billed pro rata; a downgrade or a change of interval takes effect at the next renewal. The credit allowance then aligns with the new plan, under the same no-rollover rule.
Referrals earn credits when the person you invited subscribes and pays for their first subscription; the reward is not due on sign-up alone. Syntalink reserves the right to cancel any reward in the event of fraud, abuse, or a refund of the referred subscription.
Credits are an internal unit of consumption within the Service. They have no monetary value, are neither currency nor electronic money, and are not assignable, transferable or convertible into cash. They cannot give rise to any refund beyond the cases provided for by law.
5. Prices & payment
Prices are stated in euros and payable in advance. Payments are handled by our supplier Stripe; Syntalink never stores card details. If a payment fails, access to paid features may be suspended. Prices may change; any change is notified in advance and applies to the following period.
6. Immediate performance and waiver of the right of withdrawal
The Service consists in supplying digital content whose performance begins immediately on subscribing. In accordance with article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code, by taking out a subscription or a top-up and accessing the Service, you expressly request its immediate performance and expressly acknowledge that you waive your right of withdrawal.
As a result, no withdrawal and no refund is possible once the Service has been made accessible, including during the fourteen (14) day period. Sums paid and credits, whether used or not, are non-refundable.
7. Ownership of generated content
You hold the rights to the text you generate from your own instructions and may exploit it freely, including commercially. Syntalink claims no rights over your content. In return, you alone are responsible for reading it over, for its compliance with the law and for respecting the rights of others. Given the nature of artificial intelligence, Syntalink does not warrant accuracy, originality, or the absence of resemblance to existing works. It is up to you to check and read over every piece of content before using or publishing it. When you publish or sell generated content — in particular on a self-publishing platform — you act as author and publisher and are solely responsiblefor complying with that platform's rules, including any obligation to disclose content produced with the help of artificial intelligence.
8. Acceptable use
You undertake to use the Service in compliance with the law and with these terms. It is strictly prohibited to generate, store or distribute through the Service, among other things:
- child sexual abuse material, or content depicting minors in a sexual context, including fictional, drawn or AI-generated material;
- content glorifying terrorism or inciting hatred, violence or discrimination;
- defamatory or abusive content, or content infringing privacy, image rights or the dignity of others;
- realistic depictions of identifiable real people without their consent (“deepfakes”), in particular of a sexual nature;
- content reproducing or imitating works protected by a third party's intellectual property rights;
- any content contrary to the law or to public order.
Turning on an “explicit” or “adult” content mode does not lift any of these prohibitions, which apply in all circumstances. You alone are responsible for the instructions you give and the content you generate.
You further undertake not to: (i) resell, sub-license or make access to the Service available to third parties; (ii) use unauthorised automated means (bots, scraping); (iii) attempt to access, extract or reverse-engineer the code, the models or the system instructions; (iv) circumvent the security measures, quotas or limits of the Service. Any breach may lead to immediate suspension or termination of the account, without refund, and where appropriate to a report to the competent authorities.
9. Content, backups and improving the Service
You remain responsible for keeping your own content. The Service provides export functions: it is up to you to back your manuscripts up regularly. Syntalink does not guarantee that they will be kept indefinitely and may delete content attached to a closed or inactive account after a reasonable period.
Syntalink undertakes not to use the content of your manuscripts to train its models, and not to pass them to third parties for that purpose. Your content passes through third-party technical suppliers for the sole purpose of generation, under their confidentiality commitments, and is processed only as far as providing the Service requires. Syntalink may use aggregated and anonymised technical data (usage, costs, performance) to improve the Service.
10. Availability, changes and withdrawal of the Service
Syntalink works to keep the Service available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be suspended for maintenance, updates, force majeure, or because a third-party technical supplier is unavailable.
The Service changes continuously. Syntalink may at any time modify, add or withdraw features, models or characteristics of the Service, without those changes giving rise to compensation or a refund, provided they do not substantially alter the Service subscribed to.
11. Liability
The Service is provided “as is”. Syntalink cannot be held liable for decisions taken or harm resulting from the use of generated content, which remains the user's responsibility. Where Syntalink's liability is engaged, it is limited to the amount paid over the last twelve (12) months.
To the extent permitted by law, Syntalink cannot be held liable for indirect damages, in particular loss of data or manuscripts, loss of profit, revenue, business or opportunity, arising from the use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude Syntalink's liability in the event of gross negligence, wilful misconduct or personal injury, nor to restrict the rights the law grants to consumers.
12. Warranty & indemnity
You undertake to hold harmless and, where applicable, to indemnify Syntalink against any claim, action or judgment brought by a third party (including reasonable defence costs, legal fees and court costs) arising from the content you generate or distribute, from your use of the Service, or from a breach on your part of these terms or of the law. Syntalink reserves the right to conduct its own defence, at your expense, for any claim so covered.
13. Termination & suspension
The subscription may be cancelled at any time from your account; it ends at the close of the current period, with no further renewal and no refund of the period under way. Syntalink may suspend or terminate access, without notice and without refund, in the event of a breach of these terms, fraud, abuse, non-payment or a payment dispute (“chargeback”).
Measures taken in response to a breach are graduated and proportionate: a warning, a temporary, automatic restriction on access to generation (which may grow longer where breaches repeat close together, and which lifts by itself at term), suspension, then termination. Automatic measures are limited to short temporary restrictions; the heavier measures (extended suspension, termination) are subject to human review.
When a restriction is applied, you are told about it, with its reason and, where applicable, its duration. If you believe a decision is wrong, you can dispute it by writing to support@makeyournovel.com; your request will be reviewed. This is without prejudice to the immediate measures that the seriousness of certain breaches — in particular the content listed in article 8 — may justify.
14. Personal data
How your data is processed is described in our privacy policy.
15. Changes to these terms
Syntalink may amend these terms; the version that applies is the one in force on the date the Service is used. Substantial changes are notified to users.
16. Force majeure
Syntalink cannot be held liable for non-performance or delay resulting from an event of force majeure within the meaning of article 1218 of the French Civil Code, in particular: network or hosting failure, interruption of AI or payment suppliers, a cyberattack, or a decision of an authority.
17. General provisions
If any provision of these terms is held void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. Syntalink's failure to rely on a provision is not a waiver of its right to rely on it later. Syntalink may assign or transfer this contract, in particular as part of a reorganisation or a sale of the business; the user may not assign their rights without prior agreement. These terms, together with the documents they refer to, constitute the entire agreement between the parties in respect of the Service.
18. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a complaint, you may send us a written request through our Contact page so that we can look for an amicable solution. Under articles L611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, you also have the right to refer the matter free of charge to a consumer mediator for the amicable resolution of any dispute, within one (1) year of a written complaint previously sent to Syntalink. Syntalink has appointed as mediator CM2C — Centre de la médiation de la consommation de conciliateurs de justice: by post, CM2C, 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris; online, cm2c.net. Failing an amicable resolution, the French courts have jurisdiction on the terms provided by law.
